RAMA Exhibition in Málaga: A Night to Remember
RAMA at El Centro Cutural la Malagueta
As an artist, there are moments that transcend the act of creation, moments that encapsulate the essence of community, culture, and collaboration. One such moment occurred during the RAMA exhibition in Málaga, a celebration of artistic expression that brought together 141 artists from various disciplines. Presented by La Casa Amarilla and Centro Cultural la Malagueta, RAMA was more than an exhibition; it was a testament to the vibrant artistic tapestry of Málaga.
The Genesis of RAMA
The RAMA exhibition was opened on May 10, 2025, coinciding with Málaga's renowned Noche en Blanco, an annual event that transforms the city into a nocturnal canvas of art, music, and culture. This year's edition featured over 150 free activities across 81 venues, with RAMA standing out as a significant highlight .
Organized by La Casa Amarilla (LCAmálaga) and Centro Cultural La Malagueta, RAMA aimed to showcase the richness of Málaga's artistic community. The exhibition was divided into two main sections: one featuring twenty large-format murals created by prominent graffiti artists and muralists, and another displaying works from 121 visual artists, including painters, photographers, and designers .
My Journey as PIGSY
As an Irish artist known by the pseudonym PIGSY, my journey to RAMA was both personal and professional. Having spent several years in Ireland, I returned to Málaga to immerse myself in its dynamic art scene. My residency at La Casa Amarilla provided the perfect platform to create and present my latest works.
During my time at La Casa Amarilla, I had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow artists, exchange ideas, and contribute to the collective energy that defines this cultural hub. The support from directors David Burbano and Roy Laguna was instrumental in facilitating this experience, allowing me to focus on my art while being part of a community that values creativity and inclusivity .
The Artworks
The pieces I presented at RAMA were born from my ongoing exploration of the human psyche. As a dyslexic artist, I often find that my creative process is a form of communication that transcends traditional language. My works are characterized by bold strokes, vibrant colors, and an intuitive approach that seeks to capture the raw emotions and complexities of the human experience.
Participating in RAMA allowed me to share these expressions with a broader audience, engaging with viewers who resonated with the themes of identity, perception, and transformation. The exhibition provided a space where art became a dialogue, a shared experience that connected diverse individuals through the universal language of creativity.
The Impact of RAMA
RAMA was more than an exhibition; it was a celebration of Málaga's artistic vitality. The event attracted a diverse audience, from local residents to international visitors, all eager to experience the city's rich cultural offerings. The presence of 141 artists underscored the collaborative spirit that defines Málaga's art scene, highlighting the importance of community in fostering creativity.
For me, RAMA was a reminder of the power of art to bridge gaps, challenge perceptions, and inspire change. It reaffirmed my belief in the transformative potential of creative expression and the significance of contributing to a collective artistic narrative.
Conclusion
As I reflect on my participation in the RAMA exhibition, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event. The experience reinforced my commitment to my artistic practice and deepened my connection to the vibrant art community in Málaga.
For those who missed the opening, RAMA continues to be a testament to the dynamic and inclusive nature of Málaga's artistic landscape. I encourage you to explore the works of the artists involved and to support initiatives that celebrate and promote the arts.
Thank you to La Casa Amarilla, Centro Cultural La Malagueta, and all the artists and visitors who made RAMA a memorable and impactful experience.
