"A Piece Has Been Removed"
Artwork Details:
Dimensions: 101.5 cm W x 76.5 cm H
Materials: Mixed media (Acrylic, Spray Paint, Oil Pastels, Marker, Pencil and Glue) on Canvas
Brief Description: This work from the Níl Brón Orm (“I Am Not Sorry”) exhibition and the “Automatic Apology” series explores the damage of habitual apologies, each unnecessary “sorry” feeling like a fragment of confidence lost. The raised arms hover between surrender and resilience, while vibrant pinks convey intensity, not regret, against a grey-blue ground of acceptance. Oranges break through with energy and renewal, while hidden blacks and redacted text, “a piece has been removed” not visibale anymore, hint at what has been taken away. Executed with raw, gestural spray and handwork, the piece carries a street-art immediacy that mirrors the unfiltered emotion of over-apologizing, yet also points toward the possibility of reclaiming strength.
