PIGSY selected for the inaugural Hunt Museum Open Call
A Major Milestone for Irish Contemporary Artist PIGSY
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected for the inaugural Hunt Museum Open Submission exhibition in Limerick. As an Irish contemporary artist who lives for expressive colour, bold storytelling, and a hint of madness, being included in this exciting new showcase is a massive honour—and a moment I want to share with everyone following my journey.
This is the very first open call the Hunt Museum has ever launched, making it a landmark event for Irish art. To be among its debut exhibitors feels both historic and deeply personal.
Why the Hunt Museum Open Call Matters
The Hunt Museum is one of Ireland’s most respected cultural institutions, known for holding centuries of art, artifacts, and visual treasures. Their new open call, aimed at spotlighting the vibrant world of contemporary Irish art, is a significant step forward in connecting Ireland’s artistic heritage with today’s creative voices.
Being selected isn’t just an accolade—it’s a statement. It’s the museum recognising and celebrating the raw, emotional, colourful, unapologetic style at the heart of PIGSY’s work.
My Featured Artwork: Colour, Chaos, and Personal Storytelling
The piece chosen for the exhibition comes straight from the emotional furnace that fuels my practice.
Titled “Void”, it is an instinctive response to the psychological realm of apology and existential emptiness, created in a single, impulsive session as part of my “Automatic Apology” series. The central figure, defined in urgent yellow and vivid black, embodies vulnerability and isolation, its raised arms signalling both turmoil and surrender. Energetic marks in blue, red, and yellow, layered over repeated scribbled text, echo the fragmentation of the inner mind. The inscription “VOID” underscores the emptiness felt in apology, when language falls short. Inspired by my all-Irish schooling and the phrase Tá brón orm (“I am sorry”), the work exposes the unconscious roots of regret. Painted on raw paper with an urgent palette and psychological immediacy, it seeks to help viewers connect with their own inner healing.
I’m looking forward to seeing this artwork on display in the Hunt Museum and hope that the contrast between my contemporary, expressive style and the museum’s historical setting created a powerful dialogue - one I hope visitors will feel and experience when they see it.
A Dynamic Mix of Contemporary Irish Artists
The inaugural Hunt Museum Open Submission brings together a diverse group of artists from across Ireland. Every piece selected reflects a different facet of what contemporary Irish art means today—experimental, emotional, humorous, rebellious, reflective, and everything in between.

To be part of this dynamic, varied group is an incredible privilege. It’s inspiring to see how many creative voices are shaping Ireland’s cultural landscape right now.
The Significance of Being Part of the Hunt Museum’s First Open Call
This exhibition marks the beginning of a new tradition for the museum, opening the doors to more collaboration, more artistic experimentation, and more opportunities for emerging and established artists alike.
Being included in the first edition of this open call feels like stepping into a new creative chapter—one that connects my work to a broader national conversation about art, identity, and expression in Ireland.
Gratitude to the Hunt Museum and Supporters
A huge thank you to the incredible team at the Hunt Museum for embracing contemporary Irish artists through this new initiative. I’m honoured that my work was chosen from what I know was a competitive and high-quality pool of submissions.
And thank you to everyone who continues to follow and support my creative journey. Every exhibition, every painting, every mad splash of colour is driven by the connection I feel with those who experience my art.

This moment is a milestone for me, a celebration of creativity, and a reminder of why I paint the way I do - with instinct, honesty, humour, and a whole lot of colour.
