Painting Malaga Red!
I had a great chat about Malaga with Travel Writer Kevin Flanagan and was pleased to be featured in his Travel News in Ireland’s Sunday Independent
Malaga: Picasso, Accessibility and Pedestrianisation
Kevin was interested to hear why I chose Malaga as a destination to spend a year away from Ireland and paint full time and I told him how accessible Malaga is with flights from Dublin daily with both Aer Lingus and Ryanair. I also talked about Malaga’s art history with it being the birthplace of Picasso.
The other thing I mentioned was how easy and pleasant it is to get around Malaga due to the city being pedestrianised and having great public transport and bike lanes for cycling.
Presenting my Spanish art works in Kenmare
While in Malaga I had an exhibition in La Casa Amarilla on Calle Santos where I showed my “I Went to Mass” works. This was a volume of work that I painted in the first six months of my year in Malaga, The art work I created in the second half of the year in Spain will now be shown in my upcoming exhibition in Kenmare Butter Market in Kerry, Ireland.
Malaga will always hold a special place in my heart and I know I will get back there someday. For the moment though it is exciting to be back in Ireland and working on my next exhibition and other great projects.
Of course I am missing those Malaga blue skies!!! ;-)
