A fully Irish language diary for speakers and learners
It was an honour, as an Irish speaker, to be invited to submit an image of my art work for Dialann 2023 created by Gaeltachtín (Little Gaeltacht)
My selected artwork is “Needed Awake Now” which is created from “meáin mheasctha” (mixed media).

“Needed Awake Now” is a painting about Fionn MacCool
In Irish legend and according to the most popular account of Fionn MacCumhail’s death, he is not dead at all, rather, he sleeps in a cave, surrounded by the Fianna. One day he will awake and defend Ireland in the hour of her greatest need.
Within this painting is a message of calling those to arms in times of great need. Coming out of the pandemic I find this very relevant and reassured as we saw all of humankind band together in the time of need during the health crisis.

The diary is a really nice hardback edition and makes a perfect gift for all who are interested in the Irish language.
